FAQ

Please have a read through some common questions and don't hesitate to reach out if you need any more info!

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I'm located on the Sunshine Coast in BC, Canada and can easily photograph anywhere from Gibsons to Egmont, Powell River, or the lower mainland of Vancouver. There may be some additional travel related costs depending on where you'd like me to photograph. I'm available to travel to further destinations too!

HOW DO I BOOK A PORTRAIT SESSION?

The best way to reach me is through the INQUIRE section. I'll get back to you as soon as possible to set up a chat to discuss your vision and get to know each other a little bit. If you're excited to get the ball rolling, I'll then send you an electronic contract and request for payment.

HOW DO I PAY FOR A SESSION?

A 50% non-refundable retainer will be required to hold your spot, with the other 50% due upon completion of your photo session (I'll send you invoices and notifications to keep everything on track). Full payment is required before I send final images. Payments can be made by e-transfer or cheque.

HOW MUCH DOES A PORTRAIT SESSION COST?

My family and couples portrait sessions start at $650. I also provide options for luxurious wall art and albums!

DO YOU PROVIDE REFUNDS?

Let's face it, life can throw a curveball sometimes and I want you to be comfortable making the financial commitment to work with me! Your retainer reserves my time for your session dates and is non-refundable. However if you need to re-schedule your shoot, we can work out a new date if I'm given 24 hours notice. If you need to cancel a second time, I will keep your retainer and you'll need to re-book entirely. In these COVID times, there won't be a penalty for needing to reschedule for health reasons.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

Living on the west coast means we're all accustomed to the rainy weather that is common in our region! I have no problem going out on a drizzly day, especially for family shoots. It all depends on your comfort level and expectations for the final pictures. We'll discuss these expectations prior to the shoot day and decide on what plan B will be if the weather isn't cooperating.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY/YEAR TO SHOOT?

There are several answers to this question, depending on what your expectations are for the final photos. I've written a more in-depth blog post called "When Should I Book a Photoshoot" that will answer those questions for you!

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?

Once you've booked a date and paid your deposit, we'll start planning for your session. First we'll have a phone chat to go through your vision for the final photos. I'll then send you some information about how to prepare for your shoot, ideas on what to wear, and what to expect during your photoshoot. We'll discuss wardrobe and how you would like to use the photos. If you'd like wall art or albums we'll make a plan to create beautiful products for your home. I'll also check in a few days before the shoot day to make sure we're all set!

WHEN WILL I GET MY PHOTOS?

Family edits are delivered within two weeks of your shoot day. I will post them to an online gallery for one week, so you can view them and select your favourites. I will then send you the digital files for downloading (number of files for download will vary depending on your package). Print products take a bit longer for delivery depending on the product.

HOW DO YOU DELIVER PHOTOS?

I send you your files over a file transfer site as soon as they're ready. The files are high resolution jpgs suitable for large prints.

WHAT IS A PRINT RELEASE?

A print release means that I am giving you the digital files, so you are free to print them at whatever print provider you desire.

WHAT AM I ALLOWED TO DO WITH MY PHOTOS?

As the photographer, I retain all rights to the images and I am legally the first owner of the images (therefore retain copyright over them). Most clients will utilize their photos for personal use only. However some people may want to use the images in other ways, such as promotion for their businesses on social media or other online channels, or in print media and marketing material. We can discuss your intended uses for the images and determine if any additional fees will be required for licensing purposes.

Please don't alter the photos in any way - this includes adding photo filters or cropping them (which is common on social media). If you need alterations made to the photos for any reason, let me know and we can discuss how I can assist you with that!

I deliver your final pictures without a watermark, however it's always appreciated if you're able to credit me as the photographer! I provide details on how to do that in my information package sent out prior to your shoot.

WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY PHOTOS?

I'm proud of all my work and would love to showcase your final pictures on my website, blog or social media and marketing material. Showcasing my work is also an important part of attracting business! As I retain the rights to the photos, I'm allowed to do this, and will have you sign a photo release prior to the shoot. That being said, there are circumstances where you may not want you or your family's photos used and I am understanding of those needs, so will check in with you prior to posting publicly.
