Please have a read through some common questions and don't hesitate to reach out if you need any more info!
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
I'm located in Vancouver, BC, Canada and can easily photograph anywhere in the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast, Vancouver Island or Okanagan. There may be some additional travel related costs depending on where you'd like me to shoot. I'm available to travel to further destinations too!
HOW DO I BOOK A SHOOT?
The best way to reach me is through the CONTACT section. Let me know what package you're interested in, the date, and if you have any other questions. I'll get back to you as soon as possible to set up a chat to discuss your vision and get to know each other a little bit. You'll then be sent an electronic contract and request for payment.
HOW DO I PAY FOR A SHOOT?
For Family and Lifestyle shoots, A 50% non-refundable deposit will be required to hold your spot, with the other 50% due 3 days prior to your shoot (I'll send you invoices and notifications to keep everything on track).
All weddings also require the 50% deposit in order to secure your date. The remaining 50% is due two weeks before your wedding date. At that time, a $500 refundable overtime security deposit will also be required. This is put in place to allow for a smooth transition into 1 extra hour of overtime if needed on your wedding day. The deposit will give you peace of mind if things are running behind schedule and you'd like me to stay a little longer. The deposit will be returned within 3 days after the wedding if no overtime is needed.
If a payment plan would be helpful for you, let me know and we can work something out! You can pay by PayPal or e-transfer.
DO YOU CHARGE TAX?
At this time there is no additional tax to the prices listed on my site.
DO YOU PROVIDE REFUNDS?
Let's face it, life can throw a curveball sometimes and I want you to be comfortable making the financial commitment to work with me! Your deposit is non-refundable, but if you need to re-schedule your shoot we can work out a new date if I'm given 24 hours notice. However if you need to cancel a second time, I will keep your deposit and you'll need to re-book entirely. In these COVID times, there won't be a penalty for needing to reschedule for health reasons.
My wedding contracts are a bit more involved and can be discussed in more detail prior to signing on.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
Living on the west coast means we're all accustomed to the rainy weather that is common in our region! I have no problem going out on a drizzly day, especially for family shoots. It all depends on your comfort level and expectations for the final pictures. We'll discuss these expectations prior to the shoot day and decide on what plan B will be if the weather isn't cooperating.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME OF DAY/YEAR TO SHOOT?
There are several answers to this question, depending on what your expectations are for the final photos. I've written a more in-depth blog post called "When Should I Book a Photoshoot" that will answer those questions for you!
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY SHOOT?
Once you've booked a date and paid your deposit, I'll send you some information about how to prepare for your shoot, ideas on what to wear, and what to expect during your photoshoot. I'll also check in a few days before the shoot day to make sure we're all set!
WHEN WILL I GET MY PHOTOS?
Family and Lifestyle photoshoot edits are delivered within two weeks of your shoot day. I will post them to an online gallery for one week, so you can view them and select your favourites. I will then send you the digital files for downloading.
Wedding edits are delivered within 6 - 8 weeks of your wedding day. As mentioned on the wedding page, I will deliver 10 - 20 edits the day after your wedding for you to enjoy and share with friends and family right away.
HOW DO YOU DELIVER PHOTOS?
I send you your files over a file transfer site as soon as they're ready. The files are high resolution jpgs, typically 1 - 3 MB in size. If you need higher resolution files let me know.
WHAT IS A PRINT RELEASE?
A print release means that I am giving you the digital files, so you are free to print them at whatever print provider you desire, and do not need to purchase prints through me.
WHAT AM I ALLOWED TO DO WITH MY PHOTOS?
As the photographer, I retain all rights to the images and I am legally the first owner of the images (therefore retain copyright over them). Most clients will utilize their photos for personal use only. However some people may want to use the images in other ways, such as promotion for their businesses on social media or other online channels, or in print media and marketing material. We can discuss your intended uses for the images and determine if any additional fees will be required for licensing purposes.
Please don't alter the photos in any way - this includes adding photo filters or cropping them (which is common on social media). If you need alterations made to the photos for any reason, let me know and we can discuss how I can assist you with that!
I deliver your final pictures without a watermark, however it's always appreciated if you're able to credit me as the photographer! I provide details on how to do that in my information package sent out prior to your shoot.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH MY PHOTOS?
I'm proud of all my work and would love to showcase your final pictures on my website, blog or social media and marketing material. Showcasing my work is also an important part of attracting business! As I retain the rights to the photos, I'm allowed to do this, and will have you sign a photo release prior to the shoot. That being said, there are circumstances where you may not want you or your family's photos used and I am understanding of those needs, so will check in with you prior to posting publicly.
WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE YOU TAKING DUE TO COVID?
We can certainly arrange photoshoots to keep things safe for all of us. First I will only be taking on outdoor shoots for the foreseeable future. I will also maintain my distance and use more telephoto lenses to get closer shots as needed. However this can be challenging if I'm working with small children that like to get up close and personal! I will also wear a mask as needed and follow any recommendations by our provincial and federal health authorities. Our shoots will also be re-scheduled with no penalty if anyone of us is experiencing symptoms.
